Mr. Smith's corporate banking experience has built familiarity with business and financial models in many industries including; government, manufacturing, telecommunications, agriculture, financial institutions, transportation, hospitality, real estate development, health care and more. He has been active in many strategic planning processes that have sparked innovation, strong organic business growth and healthy customer and sales/service cultures in organizations.
Mr. Smith has widespread governance training and experience as past Chair of a credit union, delegate to a national pension plan and investment review board member for an equity fund. He is an executive Board member at St. Paul's Hospital, a 220 bed faith-based acute care teaching hospital.
He has studied leadership at the Harvard Business School and The Banff Centre for Leadership. He was awarded Fellowship status in the Canadian Institute of Marketing and achieved the Registered Professional Marketers (RPM) designation. He convocated with 'Honours' from the graduate school of Bank Marketing at the University of Colorado and is a designated Fellow of the Credit Union Institute of Canada. Mr. Smith completed a degree in Commerce with a double major at the University of Saskatchewan. He is an experienced speaker and facilitator having spoken at a number of national and international conferences on finance, marketing and customer service topics.
